Kingstown, St. Vincent April 22, 2026-The Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF) has intercepted a large shipment of suspected cocaine during a targeted maritime operation off the Cumberland coast, resulting in one of the significant drug seizures recorded in recent months.
According to a police statement, the operation was carried out on Monday, April 20, 2026, after officers acted on intelligence suggesting illicit activity in the area. During the interception of a yacht, law enforcement officials discovered 396 packages containing a substance believed to be cocaine, with a combined weight of approximately 434 kilogrammes.
Authorities described the discovery as a substantial seizure, highlighting the scale of the drug trafficking activity being monitored within St. Vincent and the Grenadines’ territorial waters.
Two non-national men identified as a Venezuelan national and a Grenadian national were taken into custody and are currently assisting police with ongoing investigations.
The RSVGPF said the operation reflects its continued focus on disrupting and dismantling organised drug trafficking networks operating in and through the region. In its statement, the Force commended the officers involved, citing their vigilance, discipline, and professionalism during the execution of the operation.
Investigations remain ongoing, with police indicating that further details will be released as they become available and where disclosure will not compromise the integrity of the case.
