KINGSTOWN, April 21, 2026– Argyle International Airport (AIA) has been forced to temporarily restrict operations to daylight hours only after a technical fault crippled its runway lighting system, raising concerns about reliability at the country’s main gateway.
Airport officials confirmed that a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) has been issued, limiting flights to sunrise‑to‑sunset operations until Friday, April 24, 2026. The measure, described as precautionary, comes as technical teams work urgently to repair the system.
Passengers are being advised to check with their airlines for updated schedules, as evening and night flights will be affected. The airport has apologized for the disruption, acknowledging the inconvenience to travellers and airlines alike.
“This adjustment is necessary to ensure safety while the issue is being resolved,” the statement read, noting that engineers are working to restore full functionality as quickly as possible
AIA Inc. emphasized that the restriction is temporary and assured the public that normal operations will resume once the lighting system is restored.
