Kingstown, April 27, 2026 – Saint Vincent and the Grenadines has taken a significant step in strengthening youth participation in national food systems transformation, following a two-day workshop hosted in collaboration with the United Nations Food Systems Coordination Hub and partners.
Held on April 23- 24, the workshop focused on empowering young people to play a leading role in shaping the country’s food future. Hon. Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Transformation, Israel R. Bruce, emphasized that youth leadership, innovation, and entrepreneurship are critical to building resilient and inclusive food systems.
A key outcome was the positioning of the newly established World Food Forum (WFF) Youth Chapter and the National Youth Food System Framework as structured platforms for meaningful youth engagement in dialogue and action. Participants also explored ways to better connect science, policy, and community knowledge to support evidence-informed decision-making.
The Ministry noted that this initiative forms part of SVG’s broader engagement in the United Nations Food Systems Summit follow-up process, laying the foundation for a resilient, inclusive, and action-oriented pathway.
In closing, the Ministry expressed appreciation to all participants, moderators, panellists, facilitators, and partners for their contributions to this national effort.
