KINGSTOWN, St. Vincent — The St. Vincent Botanical Garden’s main entrance gate, opposite the Kingstown Baptist Church, will be temporarily closed on Thursday, 30 April 2026, between 6:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon, the National Parks, Rivers and Beaches Authority (NPRBA) has announced.
In a public advisory issued on 29 April, the Authority asked members of the public planning to visit the Garden during the closure to use the alternative exit gate located above the Central Water and Sewerage Authority (CWSA) parking facility.
The Botanical Garden, established in 1765 and widely regarded as the oldest in the Western Hemisphere, remains one of Kingstown’s most visited landmarks for residents, schoolchildren, and tourists alike.
“The Authority apologizes for any inconvenience caused and looks forward to the full cooperation of the public,” the NPRBA said in its advisory.
The Authority did not specify the reason for the temporary closure. Normal access through the main entrance is expected to resume from 12:00 p.m. on Thursday.
The NPRBA operates under the motto “Conserving Nature, Sustaining Lives.”
