Kingstown, St. Vincent and the Grenadines — The National Parks, Rivers and Beaches Authority (NPRBA) has announced the observance of National Parks Awareness Month 2026, which will be celebrated throughout the month of May.
This year’s observance will be held under the theme “Protecting Our Parks, Rivers and Beaches for a Greener Future”, with the slogan “Conserving Nature, Sustaining Life.”
National Parks Awareness Month is aimed at educating the public about the role and mandate of the NPRBA, while increasing awareness of the importance of parks, rivers and beaches in everyday life, community well-being and national development.
The initiative also seeks to foster a greater sense of national pride and environmental stewardship among citizens.
Throughout the month, the NPRBA will host a series of activities, including public education campaigns, radio programmes, school outreach initiatives, training workshops, community engagement activities, Parks Exploration Days and a national environmental exhibition.
The Authority says the annual observance forms part of its ongoing commitment to environmental education and sustainable development, while reinforcing the importance of protecting the country’s natural resources for present and future generations.
The NPRBA is encouraging all Vincentians, including schools, community groups, churches and stakeholders, to actively participate in the month’s activities.
Officials noted that protecting the environment is a shared responsibility, adding that the actions taken today will help shape a cleaner, greener future for all.
