Kingstown, St Vincent 7 May 2026- A 45 year‑old delivery clerk has been remanded into custody after being charged with burglary, grievous bodily harm and attempted murder following an alleged attack at a home in Clare Valley.
Police said Keswert Slater, of Clare Valley, was arrested on 6 May in connection with the incident, which allegedly occurred the previous day. In a statement, investigators reported that Slater entered the home of Nadia Slater, a 44‑year‑old journalist and acting director of the Agency for Public Information (API), as a trespasser with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
According to police, the accused struck Ms Slater about the body using his hands and a 25‑pound gas cylinder, causing injuries to her face and chest. He was also charged with attempted murder in relation to an alleged attack on a 72‑year‑old retiree living at the same address. Investigators alleged that the retiree was beaten with an unknown object in what police described as “an act that was more than merely preparatory to the offence of murder”.
The matter was heard before the Serious Offences Court in Kingstown on Thursday. Slater was not required to enter a plea as the charges were laid indictably. He was remanded into custody, and the case was adjourned until 11 May for an update on the medical condition of the complainant and a bail review hearing. It was also reported that the accused man did not have a lawyer at the time he appeared before the court
