KINGSTOWN, St. Vincent and the Grenadines — Equal Rights, Access and Opportunities SVG Inc. (ERAO SVG), in collaboration with UNAIDS Caribbean, recently hosted a two-day proposal writing and project management training workshop aimed at strengthening the capacity of organisations and individuals across St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
The training sessions were held on Saturday, May 9, and Sunday, May 10, 2026, at the UWI Global Campus, bringing together more than 50 participants from civil society organisations, the public sector, and the private sector.
The workshop was facilitated by Jaevion Nelson, Community Support Advisor at UNAIDS Caribbean based in Jamaica, who shared practical insights and strategies related to grant writing, fundraising, project implementation, and effective project management.
According to ERAO SVG President Jeshua Bardoo, the organisation decided to expand the initiative following the strong response to similar training sessions conducted in 2025.
“Last year, these trainings were so well attended and received that we decided to do them twice,” Bardoo explained. “Apart from our human rights initiatives, we continue to host various capacity-building events because it is important to develop and build the capacity of Vincentians so that we can have the relevant knowledge and skills to create impact and change within our society.”
Bardoo noted that proposal writing and project management are valuable skills for individuals working in non-governmental organisations, government agencies, and private businesses alike.
“These skills can help us raise the necessary funds that we need in these difficult financial times and help us to better implement projects,” he added.
ERAO SVG also expressed gratitude to Outright International and UNAIDS Caribbean for their financial and in-kind support which helped make the training possible.
ERAO SVG is an intersectional human rights organisation dedicated to promoting equality and non-discrimination in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. The organisation focuses on four main thematic areas: women’s rights, children’s rights, LGBTQIA+ rights, and disability rights.
