Kingstown St. Vincent, MAY 14,2026-Two officers from the Royal Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force have successfully completed one of the Caribbean’s most demanding military-style tactical training programmes.

Police Constable Ronaldo Samuel and Police Constable Alvin A. Hepburn graduated from the Regional Security System Training Institute’s Barbados Defence Force Commando Course 1/2026 after seven weeks of intensive training in Barbados and Dominica.

The programme, conducted between 8 March and 24 April, included combat fitness exercises, weapons handling, navigation, endurance marches, field operations and jungle warfare training.

Officials described the course as one of the region’s toughest tactical programmes, designed to test both physical endurance and mental resilience.

Before entering the main training phase, candidates were required to meet strict physical standards, including completing a five-mile run within 40 minutes and passing strength and endurance tests.

The training later progressed to live firing exercises, fieldcraft, camouflage, patrol operations and extended endurance activities involving weighted equipment and weapons.

Part of the programme was conducted in Dominica during a specialised jungle warfare phase, where participants undertook operations in difficult terrain under physically demanding conditions.

The officers also completed a final assessment week that included a nine-mile endurance run, obstacle and assault exercises, and a 30-mile endurance march.

According to the police force, the course placed strong emphasis on discipline, teamwork, decision-making under pressure and operational readiness.

The Royal Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force said the achievement reflects the officers’ professionalism and commitment and would strengthen the organisation’s operational capabilities.

The officers trained alongside personnel from other Regional Security System member states and Belize under the instruction of the Barbados Defence Force.
