Kingstown St. Vincent May 21, 2026– Ms Angella Jackson has formally presented her letters of credence as St Vincent and the Grenadines’ Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Cuba, describing the appointment as a “full circle” moment nearly two decades after studying there as a university student.
Ms Jackson, who took up the diplomatic post in Havana on March 1, presented copies of her credentials to Cuba’s Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, Josefina Vidal Ferreiro, on May 12 before officially presenting her credentials to Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel two days later.
Speaking after the ceremonies, Ambassador Jackson said the experience had been deeply personal.
“I consider Cuba my second home, as I spent six years of my life here earning my bachelor’s degree in accounts and finance,” she said.
“It was, indeed, a heartwarming experience that 20-plus years later I am now here to serve and represent my country.”
Jackson graduated from the University of Ciego de Ávila in 2007 with a degree in Accounting and Finance and described the presentation ceremony in Havana as an honour.
She said President Díaz-Canel congratulated Prime Minister Godwin Friday on his election victory and expressed appreciation for St Vincent and the Grenadines’ continued support for Cuba internationally, including calls for an end to the United States embargo against the island.
The ambassador said she, in turn, thanked Cuba for its longstanding support to St Vincent and the Grenadines and conveyed greetings from Prime Minister Friday and Foreign Affairs Minister Dwight Fitzgerald Bramble.
Jackson also noted that diplomatic relations between the two Caribbean nations were established in 1992 under a previous New Democratic Party administration.
Her appointment was among several diplomatic postings announced by Minister Bramble in January as the government reshaped its overseas missions and consular representation.
