The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Basketball Federation (SVGBF) is inviting eligible male basketball players across the country to attend national team tryouts as preparations begin for upcoming regional competitions.
The tryout session is scheduled for Saturday, May 23, 2026, at the Calliaqua Hard Court, beginning at 3:00 p.m.
According to the federation, the tryouts form part of preparations for the Caribbean Basketball Confederation (CBC) FIBA AmeriCup 2029 Caribbean Pre-Qualifier Tournament, which is expected to take place in Guyana in July 2026.
Team SVG is also preparing for the possibility of participating in another regional 3×3 basketball competition.
The SVGBF said several players for the CBC tournament have already been identified from the Vincentian diaspora, including overseas-based professional players. However, locally-based athletes will still have the opportunity to secure places on the final roster through the tryout and evaluation process.
The federation acknowledged that the notice for the tryout was short but explained that the timeline was influenced by FIBA regulations and registration deadlines, requiring immediate action to finalize the national squad.
While the session is open to all eligible male players aged 18 and older, the federation is strongly encouraging basketball clubs and teams throughout St. Vincent and the Grenadines to send their top-performing athletes for consideration.
Players who are unable to attend the scheduled tryout have been asked to contact members of the SVGBF Executive as soon as possible to arrange an alternative evaluation opportunity.
The federation said it is looking forward to seeing some of the country’s best basketball talent on display as preparations intensify for representing St. Vincent and the Grenadines on the regional stage.
