Kingstown St. Vincent May 26, 2026-Saint Vincent and the Grenadines has marked the 34th anniversary of diplomatic relations with Cuba with a flag-raising ceremony and school engagement programme aimed at celebrating the longstanding partnership between the two countries.

    The commemoration took place on Tuesday May 26th, at the Financial Complex in Kingstown and was attended by Prime Minister Godwin Friday, Foreign Affairs Minister Dwight Fitzgerald Bramble and Cuba’s ambassador to Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Carlos Ernesto Rodríguez Etcheverry.

    Senior government officials, diplomats and invited guests also attended the ceremony, which included the 2026 School Visit Programme involving students from Intermediate High School and Saint Martin’s Secondary School.

    Officials said the event highlighted more than three decades of diplomatic cooperation between the two Caribbean nations and reaffirmed their commitment to regional solidarity and partnership.

    In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade, Foreign Investment and Diaspora Affairs said the anniversary served as “a meaningful reflection” on the enduring friendship between the countries.

    Relations between Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and Cuba have historically included cooperation in areas such as healthcare, education, disaster response and technical assistance.

    The ministry also thanked the participating schools for contributing to the success of the event, describing youth involvement as an important part of strengthening awareness of the relationship between the two countries.

    The ceremony concluded with renewed expressions of commitment to continued collaboration between Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and Cuba.
