Caribbean Airlines has partnered with the Guyana Tourism Authority (GTA) to introduce hundreds of Guyanese students to career opportunities in aviation and tourism through a special educational outreach initiative held as part of the airline’s sustainability programme.

The programme, known as the Career Caravan, was conducted at four secondary schools across East Coast and East Bank Demerara between May 28 and 29, shortly after Guyana’s 60th Independence Diamond Jubilee celebrations.

Students from Annandale Secondary School, President’s College, Soesdyke Secondary School and Diamond Secondary School participated in the initiative, which targeted Forms Three to Five students.

Through presentations delivered by Caribbean Airlines employees and tourism professionals from the Guyana Tourism Authority, students were exposed to a wide range of career paths within the aviation and tourism sectors.

The sessions provided insight into the skills, qualifications and opportunities available in industries that continue to play a vital role in the Caribbean economy.

Renatha Marshall, Caribbean Airlines’ Country Manager for Guyana and Suriname, said engaging young people is a key component of the airline’s long-term development strategy.

“Our young people are an important demographic for Caribbean Airlines. It is therefore essential that we engage and connect with them as the next generation of leaders, and our Career Caravan education outreach programme provides a meaningful platform to achieve this objective,” Marshall said.

She also thanked the Guyana Tourism Authority and the Ministry of Education Guyana for supporting the initiative and facilitating engagement with students.

The Career Caravan forms part of the Education Pillar of Caribbean Airlines’ Sustainability Programme, which marked its third anniversary on June 3. Since its launch in 2023, the programme has reached and positively impacted more than 137,000 students across the Caribbean.

According to the airline, the collaboration demonstrates the value of partnerships, volunteerism and community engagement in helping to prepare young people for future careers while strengthening connections between education and industry.

Caribbean Airlines said it remains committed to creating opportunities for youth development and investing in future generations as part of its wider sustainability agenda.

The airline noted that initiatives such as the Career Caravan are designed not only to expose students to career possibilities but also to inspire them to pursue roles that contribute to the growth and development of the Caribbean region.
