Kingstown St. Vincent June 09, 2026 – Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Security Major St Clair Leacock has held high-level talks with security officials in Trinidad and Tobago aimed at strengthening regional efforts to combat crime and improve public safety.
Major Leacock said the discussions took place during a meeting with Trinidad and Tobago’s Minister of Homeland Security, Roger Alexander, senior officials from the Ministry of Homeland Security, and representatives of CARICOM IMPACS.
In a statement posted on his social media page, the minister said the meeting focused on enhancing regional cooperation in areas such as border security, crime prevention, and public safety.
The discussions come as Caribbean governments continue to face evolving security challenges, including transnational crime and border management issues that increasingly require coordinated regional responses.
Major Leacock said partnerships among Caribbean states remained critical to protecting citizens and safeguarding shared interests.
“Our discussions focused on enhancing regional cooperation, strengthening border security, advancing crime prevention strategies, and promoting public safety across the Caribbean,” he said.
The minister added that Saint Vincent and the Grenadines remained committed to working closely with regional partners to strengthen security across the region.
“As security challenges continue to evolve, partnerships and coordinated action remain critical to safeguarding our people and protecting our shared interests,” Major Leacock said.
He said the government would continue to support collaborative approaches aimed at building what he described as a safer, stronger, and more resilient Caribbean.
