Kingstown, St Vincent June 11,2026- Police in St Vincent and the Grenadines say they are stepping up preparations for Vincy Mas 2026, with officers being briefed on security operations ahead of the country’s largest cultural festival.
Members of the Royal St Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF) gathered at the Old Montrose Police Centre for a Carnival Duties Briefing as part of operational planning for the annual celebrations.
According to a RSVGPF press release, preparations are focused on ensuring public safety throughout the festival, with emphasis being placed on crowd management, traffic control, police visibility, emergency response and professional conduct by officers on duty.
The police force described the festival as an important expression of Vincentian identity that brings together communities, families, visitors and performers through music, culture and celebration.
Officials said the force’s mandate during the carnival season remains centred on maintaining a safe and orderly environment while supporting the successful staging of events.
“The RSVGPF is committed to protecting all patrons, supporting the smooth execution of Carnival activities, and responding decisively to any situation that may threaten public safety,” the statement said.
Police are also encouraging members of the public to cooperate with officers, obey traffic regulations and avoid behaviour that could disrupt events during the carnival period.
The force said public cooperation would play a critical role in ensuring a safe festival for participants and spectators alike.
As the countdown to Vincy Mas continues, the RSVGPF said officers stand ready to provide security coverage across the country, stressing that public safety remains a central part of the celebrations.
Vincy Mas, widely regarded as the country’s premier cultural event, is expected to attract thousands of patrons, including visitors from across the region and the Vincentian diaspora. Activities for the 2026 festival are scheduled to run from 26 June to 7 July, culminating in Carnival Monday and Carnival Tuesday on 6 and 7 July.
