Kingstown St. Vincent June 18,2026-The Carnival Development Corporation (CDC) says it is developing a policy to regulate how artificial intelligence is used in music produced for Vincy Mas, warning that technology should not replace cultural creativity.

Speaking at a press conference providing an operational update on readiness for Vincy Mas 2026, CDC chairman Ricardo “Ricky” Adams said organisers had been holding what he described as robust discussions about the growing presence of AI within the creative sector.

Mr Adams said the corporation recognises that artificial intelligence has a place in modern creative production but argued that it should remain a support tool rather than become the primary source of artistic creation.

“We recognise that there is a place for AI,” he said.

“But AI cannot become your creative juice. AI can help you refine your creation, but it cannot become your creative juice.”

According to the CDC chairman, organisers believe some music submitted this year shows signs of being generated through artificial intelligence.

“We’ve seen the introduction of even some of our songs this year that, from all research, we know are created by AI,” he said.

Mr Adams said the CDC has already started discussions with artistes and is actively working on a policy that would limit the extent to which AI can be used in music associated with the festival.

He warned that unrestricted use of artificial intelligence could weaken the cultural identity of Vincy Mas and reduce the role of human expression in the festival.

“Otherwise, again, we’ll all be jumping up to metadata-created music with no input of the passion and the energy and the culture of what is Vincy Mas,” he said.
