The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Basketball Federation (SVGBF) is preparing to reveal the final roster and delegation that will represent the country at the upcoming FIBA AmeriCup 2029 Caribbean Pre-Qualifiers in Guyana.
The Federation has announced that it will host an official press conference on Wednesday, June 24, at 11:00 a.m. at the SVGBF Office located at the New Montrose Hard Court, where basketball officials will introduce the national squad selected to compete in the regional tournament.
The announcement comes as Team SVG enters the final stages of preparation for the competition, which will be held from July 8 to 12 at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall in Georgetown, Guyana.
The tournament will feature ten Caribbean nations battling for two qualification spots in the next phase of the FIBA AmeriCup 2029 qualification process, making it one of the most important regional basketball events on the calendar.
According to the Federation, the press conference will not only reveal the final roster but will also provide insight into the team’s preparations, objectives and expectations heading into the competition.
Federation officials, members of the coaching staff and selected delegation representatives are expected to address the media and discuss the significance of representing St. Vincent and the Grenadines on the regional stage.
The event is being viewed as an important milestone for Vincentian basketball as the national programme continues its efforts to strengthen its regional competitiveness and build toward future international success.
Officials say the press conference will also provide an opportunity for journalists, supporters and basketball stakeholders to learn more about the team’s composition and preparations ahead of the tournament.
The Federation has extended an open invitation to media houses, journalists, photographers, videographers and content creators to attend and cover the announcement. Representatives of the media will also have an opportunity to engage directly with federation officials and delegation members following the formal presentation.
SVGBF President Suzette Jackson and the Federation’s executive team have been overseeing preparations for the tournament, which is expected to feature some of the Caribbean’s top basketball talent.
The Federation expressed optimism about Team SVG’s prospects and said it looks forward to sharing what it described as an exciting milestone as the country prepares to compete in Georgetown next month.
The national team announcement is expected to generate significant interest among basketball fans as St. Vincent and the Grenadines seeks to secure one of the coveted qualification spots and continue its journey toward the FIBA AmeriCup 2029.
