The National Emergency Management Organisation (NEMO) has been informed that the activities at the Kick ‘em Jenny submarine volcano have ceased and returned to normal. According to information received from the Seismic Research Centre (SRC), University of the West Indies, since Sunday 11th February, 2024 the activities have ceased, and seismic activity at the volcano has returned to NORMAL levels. The alert level at Kick ‘em Jenny remains at YELLOW with an exclusion zone of 1.5 km from the summit of the volcano in effect and should be strictly observed. The Major Crime Unit (MCU) is investigating a shooting incident that has killed Eyon Olando Browne aka “Dog”, a 45-year-old Mason of Old Montrose. Browne was accosted and shot by an unknown assailant about 6:40 a.m. on Monday 12th February 2024 in the vicinity of Greg’s Auto Rentals, Old Montrose approximately 200 feet from his home. Andy Acosta, a 35-year-old vendor of Campden Park, was fined $2,000 on Monday 5th Feb for stealing 18 pounds of medicinal marijuana, valued at EC$6,000, from a farm at Long Line, Rose Hall. Acosta was allowed four months to pay the fine, with an alternative of one year in prison.
