The MSS/SJCM Alumni Association of North America has on September 16, 2022, donated $13,500 EC to St. Joseph’s Convent Marriaqua. The check was handed over to the school’s Principal Sister Jacinta Wallace by Desmarie Greenaway, who acted on behalf of the Alumni Association. The money will be used to assist the school with the upgrading of the library. In April this year, the school has received over 600 books and other reading materials for the library, donated by the organization. Persons employed with the Government of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines will receive a salary increase of 7 percent over the next three years – 2023, 2024, and 2025 as the economy is projected to improve. Representatives from the Ministry of Agriculture and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), met with stakeholders from the agriculture and fisheries sector to discuss the operationalisation of a national agriculture management information system. When operationalised, the system is expected to document agriculture data such as the variety and volume of agricultural commodities available and the information can be used to forecast future yields. The grant amounts to $36, 120 and contributions vary from 2-thousand to 5-thousand dollars to the individual schools. Rudolf Gibson, a 64-year-old man of Arnos Vale who, without the owner’s permission, killed and cleaned his nephew Andy Davis’ ewe sheep on the spot where it was tied, was sentenced to four months in prison on Monday.
