The government has decided that an honorarium of $1,000.00 per month will be paid to the diligent and self-sacrificing nurses who are on the frontline, for as long as this crisis continues. Just last week, the government had opted to applaud those health-workers who are placed on the frontline in the fight against Coronavirus, including nurses and orderlies, in several ways when this crisis is at an end. The Caribbean Public Health Agency today reported on the 30 pending samples. Twenty-six of the samples were negative and four were positive for COVID-19. This result brings the total number of positive cases of COVID-19 in St. Vincent and the Grenadines to 12. These are all imported cases. One of the patients has already made a full recovery. Thus, there are currently 11 active cases. The patients, who have been informed, are all Vincentian nationals and have been in isolation since the samples were taken for testing. Senior Magistrate Rickie Burnett was at a loss on Tuesday, in deciding what to do with a case of domestic violence involving a mentally ill couple. John Wiltshire of Redemption Sharpes, an out-patient of the Mental Health Centre (MCH), admitted to beating his common law wife Veronica Haynes, also an out-patient of the MCH.
