Work on the final phase of the new Vegetable Market in Kingstown is scheduled to be completed by the end of next month. That’s according to Construction Manager of the BRAGSA project, Mr. John Greaves. On 28.8.2020, Police arrested and charged Leroy Patrick, 21 years Labourer of Vermont with the offence of theft. According to investigations, on 28.8.2020, the accused allegedly stole seventy-eight (78) Avocados valued one hundred and ninety-five (195.00ECC), the property of a 62 year old Farmer of Vermont; stolen at Vermont about 2:45am on 30.08.20. Patrick appeared at the Serious Offences Court to answer to the charge and pleaded guilty. He was fined $400.00 forthwith or be imprisoned for one (1) month and ordered to pay restitution to the virtual complainant.
On 28.8.2020, Jamale Harry, 20 years Vendor of Ottley Hall was arrested and charged for inducing into Her Majesty’s Prison “one (1) pack of Tobacco Leaves, one (1) transparent plastic bag containing plant a quantity of Cannabis and one (1) transparent bag containing cigarettes” which are prohibited articles, at White Chapel Road, Kingstown about 11:45am on 27.08.20. The British Foreign and Commonwealth Office on Saturday removed Jamaica from its select list of Caribbean countries from which British citizens do not have to undergo a mandatory 14-day quarantine when they return home.
