Stubbs resident Viv Simon was acquitted of murder this morning after the Prosecution entered a Nolle Prosequi (withdrew case )following the collapse of the case yesterday. The evidence that linked Simon to the crime came from a witness who is now deceased. The prosecution made an application to have her deposition read as evidence in the trial. Lawyer Ronnie Marks who represented Simon did not object but indicated that there were other pretrial statements that were inconsistent with her deposition. The Canouan Island Council (CIC), handed over some items to the Canouan Secondary School earlier on today. These items included; Clocks, Garbage Bins and a Microwave. The President of the CIC, Mr Albert Ollivierre handed over the items to the school and said that he hopes there assist in the day to day running of the School, he also urged the students to make full use of the opportunity given to them being the first students from the island to attend the School. Police have arrested and charged Kelroy Pierre, 18 years old Labourer of Layou and Bradon Richards, 17 years old unemployed of Gomea with the offence of possession of an offensive weapon on 1.12.19. According to investigations, both teens were met along the Level Garden public road with imitation firearms in their possession about 2:00am on 1.12.19.They appeared before the Calliaqua Magistrate Court and pleaded guilty.
