Kingstown St. Vincent April 30, 2026-Minister of Tourism, Civil Aviation and Sustainable Development Dr. Kishore Shallow has outlined a series of strategic initiatives aimed at strengthening the global visibility and long-term sustainability of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines’ tourism sector, highlighting efforts that span youth engagement, international marketing, and high-profile sports partnerships.
Speaking on radio, the Minister pointed to what he described as a “busy and impactful period” for the ministry, with several key programmes already underway to enhance the country’s tourism product.
Among the major initiatives is the Tourism Ignite Programme, which engaged more than 800 students from schools across the country. The programme, held over several days, focused on educating young Vincentians about the tourism industry and their role in its development. Participants received certificates upon completion, marking what the Minister described as a significant step in aligning culture, education, and tourism.
Dr. Shallow emphasized that building a sustainable tourism industry requires the involvement of all stakeholders, including youth, noting that early engagement is critical for continuity and long-term growth.
On the international front, the Minister highlighted the country’s participation in Seatrade Cruise Global, the world’s largest cruise industry trade show held in Miami. There, St. Vincent and the Grenadines was showcased as a cruise destination through a collaborative effort involving the Tourism Authority and port development stakeholders.
The event provided an opportunity to engage directly with major cruise operators, including global brands such as Carnival Corporation and Norwegian Cruise Line, while promoting the destination through visual displays and marketing materials. According to Shallow, the exposure gained at the event is expected to strengthen relationships and increase the country’s competitiveness within the cruise tourism market.
In a move aimed at expanding global reach through sports marketing, the Ministry has also partnered with Vincentian-born NASCAR driver Rajah Caruth. The six-month agreement will see St. Vincent and the Grenadines prominently branded on the driver’s car, uniform, and digital platforms throughout the racing season.
Caruth’s races, beginning in Texas, are expected to attract millions of viewers across the United States, offering significant international exposure for the destination. The initiative is being implemented in collaboration with Tempo Networks, further amplifying promotional reach through regional and international broadcast platforms.
The Minister noted that the partnership will extend beyond the racing season, with the driver expected to visit St. Vincent and the Grenadines and continue promoting the destination through his personal platforms.
Describing the combined impact of these initiatives, Dr. Shallow said they represent a “real injection” into the country’s tourism product, designed to elevate its profile and attract new markets.
