Good morning St. Vincent and the Grenadines! We’re ending the work week on a fairly pleasant note, with hazy sunshine, breezy conditions and only a slight chance of a few isolated showers across the islands.
The latest report from the Meteorological Office at Argyle International Airport shows conditions this morning as fair and hazy, with temperatures around 26.6°C. Northeasterly winds are blowing at approximately 20 km/h, helping to keep conditions comfortable despite the warm tropical temperatures.
Forecasters say a weak tropical wave is currently passing south of the islands. However, a high level of moisture is not expected, meaning weather conditions should remain generally stable with partly cloudy skies, occasional cloudiness, breezy periods and only a few isolated showers.
Humidity levels stand at 81%, while barometric pressure is measured at 1013.8 mb. Rainfall over the past 24 hours was only a trace amount. Yesterday’s maximum temperature reached 28.9°C, while overnight temperatures dipped to 24.5°C.
A weather advisory remains in effect as Saharan dust haze continues to affect the region. Residents, especially those with respiratory conditions, are advised to take the necessary precautions due to reduced visibility and poorer air quality.
Marine conditions remain slight to moderate in open waters, with swells ranging from 1.0 metres to 1.8 metres. No marine warning is currently in effect, but mariners should continue to monitor conditions while at sea.
Across the region this morning, Trinidad and San Juan are partly cloudy, Barbados is fair and breezy, Antigua and Miami are fair, while New York and Toronto are also enjoying fair conditions. London is reporting clear skies.
Sunrise today was at 5:37 am, while sunset is expected at 6:27 pm. High tide is forecast for 4:20 pm.
That’s your friendly weather update for today. Keep hydrated, limit prolonged exposure if you’re sensitive to dust haze, and enjoy what looks set to be a warm and breezy Friday across St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
