Good morning St. Vincent and the Grenadines! We’re kicking off the new month under cloudy and hazy skies as a thick layer of Saharan dust continues to blanket the region. While a few isolated showers remain possible, the dominant feature today will be the dust haze and breezy conditions.
The latest report from the Meteorological Office at Argyle International Airport shows conditions this morning as cloudy and hazy, with temperatures around 27.2°C. Northeasterly winds are blowing at approximately 19 km/h, creating a pleasant breeze across much of the country.
Forecasters say a thick layer of Saharan dust haze remains across the islands. As a result, residents can expect occasional cloudiness, breezy periods, reduced visibility and a chance of a few isolated showers throughout the day.
Humidity levels currently stand at 86%, while barometric pressure is measured at 1016.1 mb. No measurable rainfall was recorded during the last 24 hours. Yesterday’s maximum temperature reached 29.5°C, while overnight temperatures cooled to 24.9°C.
A weather advisory remains in effect, with residents urged to take the necessary precautions due to poor air quality and reduced visibility caused by Saharan dust haze. Persons with asthma, allergies or other respiratory conditions should limit prolonged exposure where possible.
Marine conditions are expected to remain slight to moderate in open waters, with swells ranging between 1.0 metre and 1.8 metres. Small craft operators and sea bathers are advised to exercise caution due to reduced visibility associated with the dust haze.
