The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Community College (SVGCC) has advanced to the finals of the 2022 Windward Islands Debating Competition (WIDC). The SVGCC, who are the reigning WIDC champions, defeated 2022 host the Sir Arthur Lewis Community College of St. Lucia in preliminary two, in a 580 to 550 victory. The Caribbean Examination Council, CXC, has extended the start this year’s CSEC and CAPE exams by three weeks. The extension follows weeks of lobbying by the Education Ministry and other stakeholders for the regional exams to be pushed back. Exams were set to get underway on May 2. CXC is set to host a media briefing about the administration of the 2022 regional examinations at 2pm. On 22.4.22, police arrested and charged Bertram Joseph, a 59-year-old Unemployed of Edinboro with the offence of Wounding. According to the investigations, the Accused allegedly unlawfully and maliciously wounded a 46 years old Freelancer of Largo Height by chopping him on his head with a (chiney chopper knife). The incident occurred at Little Tokyo, Kingstown at about 5:40 pm on 22.4.22. The Accused is expected to appear before the Kingstown Magistrate Court to answer the charge.
