KINGSTOWN, St. Vincent and the Grenadines (May 8, 2020) – The Rotary Club of St. Vincent SOUTH has signed an MOU with Rotary MESA (Medical Equipment and Supplies Abroad Foundation Inc.) in Ohio USA, to donate a 40’ container of medical equipment and supplies.  These supplies are valued at over USD$500,000 and are donated to the people of St. Vincent and the Grenadines through the Ministry of Health, Wellness and The Environment.  The equipment was handed over to Central Stores on Wednesday, April 29th, 2020. Nine students from the Thomas Saunders Secondary School (TSSS) and one from the JP Eustace Secondary School are better equipped to access online school work, while schools are closed because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Each of the students received a laptop computer, a donation made possible through an initiative by Godfrey Harry, Sports Master at the TSSS. The computers were gifts from an anonymous donor whose one condition was that they be made available to less fortunate students. Senior Magistrate Rickie Burnett’s hands are tied when having to sentence certain offenders. The Government of the United Kingdom announced today new support to help contain the spread of COVID-19 in the Caribbean. This support includes £3 million to the Pan-American Health Organisation (PAHO) for the provision of essential medical supplies and management support to help public health systems around the region combat the virus.
