The new OPV coast guard ship which was ordered by the government from the Damen shipyard based in Holland, will arrive here on Saturday 15th December 2018. Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves will visit the ship at around 430pm on Saturday, and will be taken on an official tour. The ship will be docked at the cruise ship berth. SVG will be the only country in the Organization of the Eastern Caribbean to have an Offshore Patrol Vessel which will assist in strengthening border security to patrol our large seaspace.

Police are investigating a report of attempted Arson and Burglary, which occurred at Redemption Sharpes, between 7:00pm and 7:30pm on 08.12.2018. According to preliminary investigations, (i) some unknown person(s) allegedly entered the dwelling house of a 60 years old Businesswoman of Greenhill, who with the intention to commit the offence of Arson, did an act which was more than merely preparatory to the commission of the offence, by setting a blue mattress and a quantity of clothing on fire. (ii) The unknown persons also entered the property of the virtual complainant and stole a quantity cash. Police investigations are ongoing.
Police arrested and charged a 16 years old Student of Union Island with the offences of possession of an offensive weapon and assault. According to investigations, the Student allegedly (i) without lawful excuse in a public place had in his possession a knife.
